PRAISE AND WORSHIP

SUNDAY SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

How Does God Leads Us

Romans 8:12-14 - New King James Version

12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

  • God doesn’t lead by your flesh or your soul

    • Many Christians are led by their reasoning, feelings (body, sight, circumstances)

    • This is not the bible way (born again way)

      • You are a new creature with God’s nature, DNA in us

      • Wall to wall HS (1/3 of us)

Proverbs 20:27 - New International Version

27 The human spirit is[a] the lamp of the Lord
that sheds light on one’s inmost being.

  • He primarily communicates to you through your spirit

Luke 4:1 - New King James Version

Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit [a]into the wilderness,

  • Jesus was an example for how to live this life

John 16:13-15 - New King James Version

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He [a]will take of Mine and declare it to you.

  • Holy Spirit is a person (John 16:13 Jesus says He)

  • How does HS talk to us or lead us? By our spirit

    • We need to recognize the difference from our spirit and soul

1 Thessalonians 5:23 - New King James Version

23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify[a] you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ

  • God is a spirit communicates primarily through our spirit

  • Devil is a flesh devil, he communicates through people’s flesh

    • Physical senses, flesh temptation thoughts

  • Have you ever been confused on where these thoughts come from?

    • Ask yourself do these thoughts line up with what the bible says

John 1:1 - New King James Version

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:12-14 - New King James Version

12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [a]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

  • The Word and Jesus are the same (just in written form)

  • The Word reveals God’s character to us, who HE (God) is

Hebrews 4:12 - New King James Version

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

  • Your spirit is always 100% aligned with God to do His will

  • It’s our souls that need to get realigned or renewed to God’s ways of being and doing what is right

Galatians 5:16-18 - Amplified Bible

16 But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the [a]sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. 17 For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the [b]sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do. 18 But if you are guided and led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the Law.

Galatians 5:25 - Amplified Bible

25 If we [claim to] live by the [Holy] Spirit, we must also walk by the Spirit [with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Holy Spirit].
