15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.
Believe in your heart confess with your mouth (Rom 10:8-10)

Acts 2:38 - New Living Translation
38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Repentant heart- turn to God for forgiveness
Water baptism ordinance
Disciple, Believe, Repent (receive forgiveness of sins)
This is why we don’t baptize infants at TCF Church
Infants aren’t able to be disciples, believe, or repent from their sins
We do what Jesus parents did to Jesus bring the child to church and dedicate them to the Lord
Parents brought their kids to Jesus and he laid hands on them and blessed them; he didn’t baptize them
Examples of baptism:
Acts 2:41 - New King James Version
41 Then those who [a]gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
If you are not willing to be baptized, did you gladly receive?
Acts 8:12 - New King James Version
12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.
Acts 8:35-38 - New King James Version
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”
37 [a]Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.”
And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”
38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.
Enochs idea to be baptized- no hesitation
Acts 9:17-18 - New King James Version
17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord [a]Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.
healed, receive the Holy Spirit, and baptized with water (1-2-3)
Acts 10:44-48 - New King James Version
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And [a]those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
Commanded them to be water baptized
Filled/receive the Holy Spirit- evidence speaking in tongues
two separate events- need both
Acts 16:30-33 - New King James Version
30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized.
