SUNDAY SERMON

COMMUNION SCRIPTURES:

Colossians 1:12-14 - New King James Version

12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and [a]conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption [b]through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 2:11-15 - New Living Translation

11 When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature.[a12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.

13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed[b] the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

  • The cross confirmed the devils defeat forever/ sealed His fate and defeat

  • All who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved

  • That’s why we confess “I believe in my heart Jesus was crucified on the cross for my sins, and God raised him from the dead to make me righteous.”

SERMON NOTES:

Let God’s Word Shape Your Future

Hebrews 12:1-2 - New Living Translation

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.[a] Because of the joy[b] awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

  • A distracted mind becomes a defeated mind.

  • A focused mind becomes a disciplined mind.

    • Endurance comes from focus

Psalm 1:1-3 - New Living Translation

Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockersBut they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.  They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

  • You don’t fight thoughts with emotion. You fight thoughts with THE WORD. (truth)

Romans 4:20-21 - New Living Translation

20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. 21 He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

  • Recognizing wrong thought patterns; Rejecting them

  • Replacing them with Scripture
