SUNDAY SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

Heart Check-up

Luke 4:18 - New King James Version

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me [a]to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are [b]oppressed;

  • Poverty, depression, forgiveness, sickness & direction, oppression

    • Fear, doubt, & unbelief

1 John 3:8 - Amplified Bible

The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

  • Burdened, bound, mind filled with unnecessary things

  • Free from Shame of past & difficulty of the present

  • Free people are Solution oriented people free to be creative thinkers

John 10:10 - Amplified Bible

10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].

  • Jesus came to deal with the people in crisis and set people free

  • Joy of the Lord is your strength (Neh 8:10)

  • Joy, joy, joy (it’s a force and a fruit of the spirit)

  • Joy is a weapon, fight to keep your Joy

1 John 4:7-10 - Amplified Bible

Beloved, let us [unselfishly] [a]love and seek the best for one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves [others] is born of God and knows God [through personal experience]. The one who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. [He is the originator of love, and it is an enduring attribute of His nature.] By this the love of God was displayed in us, in that God has sent His [One and] only begotten Son [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind] into the world so that we might live through Him10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation [that is, the atoning sacrifice, and the satisfying offering] for our sins [fulfilling God’s requirement for justice against sin and placating His wrath].

  • Go so loved the world he gave us Jesus

  • Jesus loves us that He died & went to hell for us

Hebrews 11:1 - Amplified Bible

11 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

Ephesians 2:8-9 - Amplified Bible

For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9 not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

  • Jesus did it all; Our Faith in Jesus words, “It is Finished”

2 Corinthians 12:9 - Amplified Bible

but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.

Mark 4:13-20 - Amplified Bible

13 Then He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How will you understand and grasp the meaning of all the parables? 14 The sower sows the word [of God, the good news regarding the way of salvation]. 15 These [in the first group] are the ones along the road where the word is sown; but when they hear, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. 16 In a similar way these [in the second group] are the ones on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy [but accept it only superficially]; 17 and they have no real root in themselves, so they endure only for a little while; then, when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, immediately they [are offended and displeased at being associated with Me and] stumble and fall away. 18 And others are the ones on whom seed was sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19 but the worries and cares of the world [the distractions of this age with its worldly pleasures], and the deceitfulness [and the false security or glamour] of wealth [or fame], and the passionate desires for all the other things creep in and choke out the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 And those [in the last group] are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil; and they hear the word [of God, the good news regarding the way of salvation] and accept it and bear fruit—thirty, sixty, and a hundred times as much [as was sown].”

  • Along the path -Satan steals word (John 10:10 thief (faith comes by hearing & no understanding))

  • Stoney path- emotional Christians/ moved more by their 5 senses

    • Don’t meditate & think on the word until faith comes

    • Trouble & Persecution come for the word’s sake (not the individual) Harvest stolen

  • Thorny – Energy for the harvest is stolen (faith energy stolen/distracted away from producing the harvest in that word/promise)

  • Good soil- attach your faith agreement to the word/promise

    • Hear, receive, and accept the truth
