PRAISE AND WORSHIP

SUNDAY SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

United as One with Christ

John 15:1-8 - New King James Version

15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

  • branch and vine are attached -oneness- vital

1 Corinthians 1:29-31 - New Living Translation

29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”[a]

  • Unity – united in Christ

1 Corinthians 2:16 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

16 For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.

1 John 4:16-18 - New King James Version

16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

  • Abide, live, united, togetherness in Christ (joint partnership)

  • As Jesus is so are you in this world

Colossians 1:26-28 - New King James Version

26 the [a]mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. 27 To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: [b]which is Christ in youthe hope of glory. 28 Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

  • Get your Identity from Christ

  • I am in Christ (get crowd to repeat in faith)

    • I am a child of God, I am the righteousness of God, I am delivered from darkness, sin, and death, I have the mind of Christ, I am already blessed, I was already healed by Jesus stripes, I am an overcomer, I always triumph, I am in Christ

Romans 5:1-2 - Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

Therefore, since we are justified ([a]acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to [b]enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.

  • The level of your belief (faith) that you are in unity, abiding, living together, oneness with Christ is the level of access you will have to His grace (favor, manifested promises, fruit)

  • You get your identity (who you are) by being one with Jesus Christ (the anointed one, the Messiah)

    • Not your past performance, good works, or behavior (good or bad)
