PRAISE AND WORSHIP

SUNDAY SERMON

SERMON NOTES:

Fix Your Heart

Proverbs 4:20-24 - New Living Translation

20 My child, pay attention to what I say.  Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them.  Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.  23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.  24 Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.

  • Eyes, ears, words, pictures, videos, reels, TV

    • Start to control your imaginations (what you think about)

    • That will end up eventually controlling your heart

Genesis 12:1-3 - New Living Translation

12 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”

James 5:8-9 - New Living Translation

8 You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near.

9 Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!

Psalm 112:1-8 - New King James Version

112 Praise[a] the Lord!  Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.  2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed.  3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness [b]endures forever.
4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.  5 A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.  6 Surely he will never be shaken;
The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.  7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.  8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.

Hebrews 13:5-9 - New King James Version

5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say:

“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?”

7 Remember those who [a]rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 9 Do not be carried [b]about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.

Isaiah 50:6-11 - New King James Version

6 I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

7 “For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.  8 He is near who justifies Me; Who will contend with Me?
Let us stand together.  Who is [a]My adversary?  Let him come near Me.
9 Surely the Lord God will help Me; Who is he who will condemn Me?
Indeed they will all grow old like a garment; The moth will eat them up.

10 “Who among you fears the Lord?  Who obeys the voice of His Servant?
Who walks in darkness And has no light?  Let him trust in the name of the Lord And rely upon his God.  11 Look, all you who kindle a fire, Who encircle yourselves with sparks: Walk in the light of your fire and in the sparks you have kindled— This you shall have from My hand: You shall lie down in torment.

John 14:1 - New King James Version

14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

John 14:27 - New King James Version

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27 - New Living Translation

27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

  • Will you let God & His word establish your heart?

  • Will you let the world establish your heart?

    • The world is broken with sin- they have a sin problem

Romans 8:31-32 - New Living Translation

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
