PRAISE AND WORSHIP
SUNDAY SERMON
SERMON NOTES:
Rest is Proof of Your Faith
Hebrews 11:1 - New Living Translation
11 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
2 Corinthians 5:7 - New Living Translation
7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.
1 John 3:8 - Amplified Bible
8 The one who practices sin [separating himself from God, and offending Him by acts of disobedience, indifference, or rebellion] is of the devil [and takes his inner character and moral values from him, not God]; for the devil has sinned and violated God’s law from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.
Luke 10:19 - Amplified Bible
19 Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [a]serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.
Say- I have the ability to exercise authority over all the power of the enemy. Jesus gave it me and I will use it!
Hebrews 4:1-4 - New King James Version
4 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, [a]not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:
“So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”
although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;
There is a sabbath rest promised to all Christians
Resting in Faith that God’s word is true in every area of your life
Hebrews 4:8-10 - New King James Version
8 For if [b]Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Rest in the finished works of Jesus
Rest because you know it’s already done, and you possess it by faith
You stop working trying to receive it
You own it, and received it by faith (access to all grace by faith)
Matthew 12:33-37 - New Living Translation
33 “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. 34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Idle words are empty words- no faith just repeating- faithless words
Are you satisfied with the amount of time you are spending time with God’s word
Joshua 1:8 - Amplified Bible
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be [a]successful.
Get in God’s presence, get in His word until you are full
Gas station refill, schedule time (Peter got out of the boat, wanted to be closer to Jesus in the middle of the storm)
Meditate His Word- Aligns us with God’s Word (free will)
Replaces our thoughts with Gods thoughts
Replaces our words with His words
Colossians 2:7 - New Living Translation
7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
